Somatic Therapy
The body’s story tells us the effects the past has on the present as it relates to our nervous system and automatic physiological responses to the here and now. Our brain, body, and spirit are interwoven; the experience/s that is stuck in mind is also held in the body. Until these pieces integrate, we are often stuck in the past, stuck in worrying about the future and missing the present.
At Mind-Body Integrative Therapy we believe in utilizing a variety of somatic interventions to meet our client’s where they are at. One size does not fit all and you deserve to have your wellness optimized through unique and tailored interventions

The Inner Room Method
The Inner Room Method is grounded in the principle that all clients have an inherent drive toward homeostasis and healing, with the body holding the key to its own restoration. Like animals instinctively discharging stress and returning to balance after being threatened, humans also have the ability to return to a state of balance but run into various conscious barriers blocking this process. TIR involves client-led methods such as free association, IFS, Gestalt, Inner-Child work, and visualization, with therapists providing non-directive, facilitative support to prioritize the client’s innate process
The human mind and body possess an innate drive toward homeostasis and healing. Therapeutic progress involves the removal of conscious barriers that inhibit access to this internal healing process.

Emotional Freedom Technique
This body-based intervention of gently tapping on specific acupressure points creates a physical interruption instantly puts the brakes on your “fight-or-flight” response. Clinical studies show that Emotional Freedom Technique rapidly lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) by up to 43%, while shifting your nervous system into a state of rest and recovery. It’s a fast, evidence-based way to lower your heart rate, release muscle tension, and physically clear chronic stress from the body.

Integrative Therapy
Somatic Experiencing (The Body): Works from the brainstem up to physically release trapped survival energy (fight/flight/freeze), resetting a stressed nervous system.
Mindfulness (The Present): Strengthens the prefrontal cortex (logic center) and shrinks the amygdala (fear center), allowing you to face triggers without being hijacked by them.
Visualization (The Re-Wiring): Activates the visual cortex to spark neuroplasticity. Because the brain treats vivid imagination as reality, it quickly builds new, positive neural pathways.
Parts Work (The Mind): Calms the emotional limbic system by resolving internal conflict.
Inner Child Work (The Memory): Updates the hippocampus (memory bank) by comforting past wounds, signaling to your modern brain that the original danger is finally over.
